Tryinghard2012: Lost 171 Pounds in 13 Months All Natural!

"In short, I was battling obesity most of my early adulthood until 2010 when I decided to take a hold of my life after a health scare. I've lost a total of 171 pounds in 13 months all natural through diet and exercising. smile I've been maintaining since November 2011. I'm totally committed to the journey! I'm healthy mentally, physically and emotionally! GOD is good!

I was very much of an emotional eating. I'm not cured, but I've adopted a healthy lifestyle. My weight loss journey was all natural. No supplements (not even vitamins), no surgery... I normally run, kick box, Zumba and do the Arc Trainer at Level 20 (highest level) resistance 35-40. The Arc trainer is a calorie burner I love it! I started with the treadmill 15 minutes, then elevated to the Elliptical for 45 minutes, then to the Arc trainer for an hour.

I'm pretty discipline with weighing and measuring my food. I cut back on junk and try to eat whole foods- little to no processed food. I cook mostly all my meals and plan in advance. I'll say 80% of my success came from what I ate. I try to keep a positive attitude....

Lastly, during the losing phase, I lost every week consecutively for 13 months. No plateau or weight gain."

Dogdaysofdiets: Goal! 82 Pounds Down: 217 to 135

Before:

After:

"Here goes... the before at 217, wearing size 16 jeans and XL/1X tops. And the after... taken tonight at 134.9 pounds, wearing size 6 jeans and a small top.I began my journey shortly before Memorial Day weekend, 2011.

...I had no specific plan, but as May became June, things started falling into place. I started at 217 and weighed in at 134.9 this morning after tap dancing around 135 for a couple days.

I have PCOS and insulin resistance, so low carb (60/day) low calorie (1200/day) with a splash of calorie and carb cycling to keep my body guessing was how I achieved my results. In addition to cardio and strength training (mostly resistance bands as I still detest weights, despite trying to like them). I also take part in intermittent fasting (fast from 7pm-noon) because it seems to work best for my lifestyle. Eating breakfast always made be nauseous (despite breakfast being some of my favorite foods). I had what I'd consider a severe carbohydrate addiction. Kicking that was hard, but freeing. I love that I no longer crave food and I don't miss carbs at all."

Luna: From 230 Lbs Down to 166

"Just a view of where I was for most of my life, and how far I’ve come in the past year. Started off at around 230lbs, now down to 166. Not only are the changes physical, but also emotional and mental. Look at the difference in my smile between then and now! I’m so much happier now that I’m so much healthier :)"

I’m currently hovering between 145-150 pounds, and I’m training to get lean and strong so I can be a better Derby player.
I believe in good food, cardio, and weights, as well as positive environments and tangible goals."
